Vertical Lip Lines Treatment in Scottsdale, AZ

Regenerative Treatments Restore Age-Related Skin Density Loss

Collegen loss around the mouth, the perioral area, is often one of the very first signs of aging. Collagen loss that starts in our 30s is what causes the fine vertical lines on your upper lip. They’re often called lipstick lines, perioral rhytides or “smoker’s lines” even when you’ve never smoked.

Perioal line fillers can be used to temporarily fill verticle lip lines one by one, however fillers have list of issues, including being prone to migration and lumpiness.

Skin resurfacing seem like the best thing for lip lines. It can help some with the skin tightening it delivers, however skin resurfacing doesn’t much to restore skin density, meaning the structural strength and thickness of the skin’s inner layer (the dermis), where collagen and elastin content has been lost. That’s what what causes perioral wrinkles.

The good news is that there are now regenerative treatments that deliver real age repair, improving skin density, skin volume, and skin function at a cellular level. Treatments minimize lip lines by using the most advanced, non-invasive FDA cleared devices and bioactive topicals designed to improve aging skin.

Rejuvience Med Spa specialized in aging (50+) skin. When we provide treatments for lip lines, the device(s) and medical grade in-office topicals are selected based on your individual skin characteristics. To best correct lip lines, the treatment needs to be personalized. The hallmarks of aging, such as volume loss, deepening lines and wrinkles, age-related hormonal changes, sun damage, and the effects of lifestyle choices begin to vary greatly in 50+ skin. We personalize every treatment so your treatment results are optimial and long lasting.

Our Approach to Treating Perioral Lines and Wrinkles

Rejuvience Med Spa Regenerative Lip Line Treatment Options

Vertical lip lines, often called smokers lines, lip lines, or perioral wrinkles, can be one of the first signs of aging in 50+ skin. These fine, etched lines are caused by a mix of collagen loss, repetitive movement, sun exposure, and natural aging. At Rejuvience Med Spa, we focus on regenerative treatments for lip lines that rebuild structure, smooth texture, and strengthen the skin around the mouth, not just temporarily fill it. Whether you’re looking to minimize lip lines, understand the best fix for smokers lines, or explore modern procedures for perioral wrinkles, our treatment objective is to smooth them by restoring skin density with devices and advanced bioactives that support the body’s natural healing that ultimately delivers treatment results.

The devices we select from to correct lip lines are listed below. See our advanced exosome menu for our current clinical advanced bioactive topical options.

Density RF Skin Tightening for the Perioral Area and Lip Lines

Density RF is our most advanced radiofrequency tightening treatment, and it’s particularly well-suited to the perioral zone. Unlike older RF devices that deliver energy at a single depth, Density RF uses both monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency energy in combination, monopolar for deep collagen remodeling and tissue tightening, bipolar for surface skin refinement. This dual-mode approach allows us to address both the deeper laxity and the surface texture of perioral skin in a single treatment session.

The treatment works by delivering controlled thermal energy into the dermis, triggering the body’s wound-healing response and stimulating fibroblast activity. Fibroblasts are the skin cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin, the structural proteins that keep skin firm, smooth, and resilient. As new collagen forms in the weeks following treatment, the perioral area gradually tightens and smooths.

Density RF is comfortable, requires no needles and no downtime, and produces visible results in the 6- to 12-week range with ongoing improvement continuing for up to six months.

Think of Density RF as a newer, more comfortable, more consistent evolution of Thermage, with the added advantage of treating both skin laxity and surface quality in the same session rather than requiring two separate modalities.

Procell Microchanneling: Collagen Induction for Lip Lines

Procell Microchanneling is an skin rejuvenation therapy that creates thousands tiny, controlled vertical microchannels in the skin. Microchanneling is generally considered to have faster healing, less pain, and significantly better immediate serum absorption than microneedling. The channels created allow for 300% deeper penetration of stem cell and exosome topicals, one of which is applied immediately after treatment. These powerful bioactives tell cells to generate even more collagen while helping them remember how to function like their younger selves for long-lasting, all you results.

The Procell is particularly well-designed for fine perioral lines, the stamping action is precise, consistent in depth, and effective at targeting the superficial-to-mid-dermis where lip lines originate. Procell Microchanneling is an excellent standalone option for those with primarily surface-level lip lines and relatively good perioral skin elasticity. It also pairs exceptionally well with DENSITY RF for those who have both surface texture concerns and deeper laxity. The two treatments are synergistic, addressing different layers of the skin and different aspects of the aging process. There is virtually no downtime with Procell. Redness typically fades in less than 24 hours and makeup can be worn next day. It’s the perfect solution for those seeking a natural, long-lasting way to smooth lip lines without fillers or invasive procedures.

Exosome Therapy: An Advanced Regenerative Treatment for Lip LInes

Exosome therapy represents the leading edge of regenerative aesthetics, and it plays a meaningful role in our approach to perioral rejuvenation. Exosomes are extracellular vesicles, nanoscale particles released by cells as a form of biological communication. They carry a complex payload of growth factors, proteins, lipids, and microRNAs that instruct surrounding cells to repair, regenerate, and function more youthfully. In the context of vertical lip line treatment, exosomes serve as a powerful amplifier of whatever regenerative signal has already been initiated, whether by Procell MicrochannelingMicroinfusion, or Nano Infusion. When applied topically following a treatment that has opened the skin and activated the repair cascade, exosomes penetrate deeply and enhance the body’s regenerative response. The result is more collagen production, more rapid tissue repair, and a meaningfully better clinical outcome than treatment alone would produce. Exosome therapy can also be used as a standalone facial treatment for those who are not ready for or interested in energy device-based treatments, though combination use produces the most significant regenerative benefit in the perioral zone.

Venus Viva Skin Resurfacing for Lip Lines

The Venus Viva targets vertical lip lines with patented NanoFractional radiofrequency that creates microscopic punctures in the skin while delivering heat beneath the surface. This controlled micro-injury forces the body to remodel old collagen and produce new elastin, which gradually builds up the skin’s density to smooth out the depth of those etched-in creases. Because the perioral area is highly dynamic and prone to hyperpigmentation, the Venus Viva is often preferred over aggressive ablative lasers for skin resurfacing, especially for melanated or darker skin types (Fitzpatrick types IV–VI) that carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Tixel Skin Resurfacing for Lip Lines

The Tixel provides a completely different approach to smoothing out stubborn vertical lip lines by using pure thermo-mechanical action instead of lasers or radio frequency. It works by briefly pressing a tiny, heated titanium tip to the skin, which creates microscopic channels around the mouth through a quick flash of thermal energy. This controlled heat instantly triggers the body’s natural healing cascade, stimulating fresh collagen and elastin production to tighten the tissue and lift those etched-in creases from within. Because it relies purely on heat rather than light or radiation, it is exceptionally safe for all skin types, carries an incredibly low risk of hyperpigmentation, and doesn’t require any numbing creams. It gives you the powerful results of a fractional laser but with significantly less discomfort and just a day or two of mild, sunburn-like pinkness.

What Lip Line Treatment Results Look Like, and When

Regenerative treatments work with your biology, which means results develop progressively rather than appearing overnight. Here’s an honest timeline of what to expect:

In the first two weeks following Density RF or Procell Microchanneling

The skin’s repair process is underway but not yet visible on the surface. You’ll often notice that skin feels slightly firmer or more refined in texture, but dramatic visible change is not yet present. With exosome therapy, some notice improved hydration and a subtle glow effect relatively quickly as the skin’s inflammatory response normalizes.

Between weeks four and eight

New collagen fibers are maturing and the structural changes become visible. Lines appear softer and less defined. The perioral border looks more distinct. Skin in the lip area feels noticeably denser and smoother to the touch.

Peak results with Density RF are typically visible at six to twelve weeks post-treatment, with continued gradual improvement for up to six months as the collagen remodeling process matures. Series treatments, whether Procell, Density RF, Exosome Therapy, or a combination, continue building on each session, with cumulative results that significantly exceed what a single treatment produces.

Unlike filler, which degrades and requires regular top-up appointments to maintain its effect, regenerative treatments build tissue that is genuinely yours, collagen and structural improvement that persists.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Lip Line Treatments?

Vertical lip line treatment at Rejuvience is appropriate for fine to moderate lines above the upper lip or around the mouth; if you’ve noticed your lipstick bleeds or your mouth border looks less defined than it used to; if you prefer a regenerative, non-filler approach; or if you’ve had filler before and want to reduce your dependence on it going forward.

Those wwith more pronounced perioral laxity, noticeable softening of the mouth corner area or deeper creases, often benefit most from Density RF, either alone or in combination with Procell.

Those with primarily fine surface texture lines may find that Procell Microchanneling with exosome amplification is sufficient. We’ll make a specific recommendation during your consultation after assessing your skin and discussing your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Vertical Lip Line Treatment in Scottsdale

What are vertical lip lines called medically?

Vertical lip lines are clinically referred to as perioral rhytids. They may also be called lip lines, smoker’s lines (a misnomer, as they affect non-smokers equally), or perioral wrinkles. The term “rhytid” simply means wrinkle; perioral refers to the area surrounding the mouth.

Can vertical lip lines be treated without filler?

Yes. Filler is one option, but it is not the only one, and it may not be the best option for everyone. Regenerative treatments including radiofrequency skin tightening, microchanneling, and exosome therapy can meaningfully reduce the appearance of perioral lines by rebuilding the skin’s collagen structure, improving dermal density, and tightening perioral laxity. These treatments address the underlying cause of the lines rather than filling the space above them.

How many treatments does it take to see results on lip lines?

This depends on the treatment and the severity of your lines. Many patients see noticeable improvement after a single Density RF session, with ongoing improvement continuing for months. For Procell Microchanneling, a series of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart typically produces the best results. Combination protocols accelerate and deepen the outcome. We’ll give you a realistic expectation during your consultation.

Is there downtime for perioral treatments?

Density RF involves no social downtime. Redness from Procell Microchanneling typically fades in less than 24 hours and makeup can be worn the next day. Same with Exosome Therapy, virtually no downtime.

Does Density RF hurt around the mouth?

Density RF is designed for comfort and is well-tolerated in the perioral area. The feeling is typically described as a mild, consistent warmth, like a hot stone massage.
